FB03 - Practical Data Governance
OVERVIEW
The course illustrates the needs for the data governance function, its results, its typical organizational structures, its responsibilities and activities of the roles involved to define a successful governance.
It also presents a framework for launching a data governance initiative and metrics to measure its progress.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
The aim of the course is to allow participants to have a “hands-on” introduction to Data Governance, inspired by the DAMA DMBOK2 framework and presented from a practical perspective to allow attendees to move the first steps on their own, after the course.
Contents include:
- Introduction to data governance: what is data governance and why it matters.
- A practical and applicable framework for data governance.
- Identify the most appropriate data governance model for your organization.
- Roles, responsibilities, organizational structures and typical principles for the success of data governance.
- Starting a Data Governance program: how to create a business case for Data Governance, the creation of programs, the development of fundamental commercial activities and the role of Stewards in Data Governance.
- How to support data governance and incorporate it into «Business as Usual» activities.
- The relationship between data governance and other information disciplines and the differences with IT governance
